I take pride in the fact that I’ve created a special place where seekers are offered a nice ambiance, spiritual statuary, ritual objects, inspirational books, artists’ creations and unique jewelry and a space where people can discover who they really are through our workshops and classes. We have a loyal customer following that’s more like a tribe, and there’s always room for more.

But none of it would have happened if I hadn’t taken a risk (inspiration ahead!).

In July of 2011, I began a journey with an unknown destination. I had been laid off from my corporate job when I walked into one of my favorite shops. It was a sacred place to me, with Tibetan antiques, prayer beads, jewelry…etc. The owner had previously told me he planned to retire, so I asked if he had found someone to continue what he had created over 35 years ago…

He looked at me and asked if I was interested. I was stunned! I had never done anything like this before. I was a 50-year old Computer Database Administrator who was planning to find another cubicle to work in until I retired. Nope. The Universe had other plans. Guided by the Divine, I agreed to his terms on the spot.

With my life partner Allen I remodeled the space and opened in March, 2012. We named it Buddhamouse for my animal totem (a mouse meditating in the robes of a monk), and created a mission of “Promoting Peace, Beauty, and Well-Being.” We have a room in the back where facilitators offer holistic services and workshops. I cannot say that this was my dream. I had no idea then that my life would look like it does now. It was channeled and I continue to be an open vessel.

Taking refuge is a metaphor for finding safety or strength. I take refuge in what is referred to as the Three Jewels: 1) all beings are sacred and we, as humans, can find peace and security in our pure essence, 2) through living ethically and cultivating a better understanding of ourselves and others, we are liberated from emotional, physical, and mental suffering, and 3) having a spiritual community provides a safe space to practice, learn, and evolve.

Come! Experience the ambiance and participate in one of our services, classes or workshops. In September we have two special events scheduled. On September 16th “A Year to Live” 13-month workshop will begin with Valerie Cusson, M.Ed, and September 29th and 30th is our “Weekend of Sound and Music Healing” with flute, Tibetan singing bowls, voice, and drums. Space is limited so register early to reserve your spot!
